In Auckland with the VRC
I was lucky enough to be included in a wonderful promotional lunch run by the VRC in the Langham Hotel in Auckland to encourage New Zealanders to come over for our wonderful 2008 Melbourne Cup carnival. There was a fashion parade with myself,Kim Fletcher, Richard Nylon, Marea Bright and Anthea Crawford.
The event was a lot of fun, the NZ hospitality was exceptional and I was only sorry that I couldn't have stayed longer to see some of the beautiful surrounds of Auckland . Maybe next time.

Peter Sheppard, another season for fabulous shoes and the perfect hat.
I am happy to be able to confirm that Kim Fletcher Millinery Art and Serena Lindeman Millinery will again be joining Peter Sheppard in their beautiful flagship store in Collins St in Melbourne CBD to team our hats with their fabulous selection of footwear.
We arrive in the store in mid September with a specialist millinery assistant to help you get the right hat. The expert Peter Sheppard staff can fit you with the right shoes .... all you have to do is get the dress and you are ready to back a winner.

Melbourne winter 2008 at Serena Lindeman Millinery
July, cool days getting longer and reminding me that Spring is so soon.
Enrollments in my beginner's winter term class starting in July are almost finalized now. I am considering running a couple of one day workshops so contact me if you are interested in having information sent to you about those.
We are seeing a number of brides now who are planning weddings from August through to February next year- planning well ahead. Using the same fabric as their dresses we are making a range of gorgeous flowers to garnish the hair. Each one is individually made to order so no two are the same. Veiling, feathers and wired diamantes are also popular.
Winter hats are still on the agenda for the woman who knows how to look good while keeping warm- The deco show at the NGV has seen a spike of demand for the cloche.
Finally our travellers who go north for the summer weddings in Europe are giving us some lovely creative challenges. Pictured is a piece that I made for a client who wore it at Royal Ascot this year.

The Inglis Cheval and Chapeau Ladies Lunch
I had the privilege this week to be invited to exhibit a small collection of my hats in the sale ring of this well known thoroughbred auction company. Along with another eleven of Australia's leading milliners including Peter Jago, Kim Fletcher, Tracy Mack and Melissa Jackson I had the opportunity to show my hats and meet new people.
Run by Charlotte Inglis the event raised funds for the Royal Children's Hospital in Randwick. The guests were all women involved in the racing industry around Sydney. I was delighted to see so many wearing hats and looking glamorous. Judging by the fact that the event was a complete sell out I am sure it will become a fixture on the Sydney Autumn racing Calender.

Dubai World Cup photos 2008
This year I was really happy to have sold hats to team up with some really stunning looks. I am wondering if any clients who bought a Serena Lindeman hat would like to send me photos of themselves at the Dubai World Cup. While I saw several clients I missed catching up with others who I would have loved to see. It's so rewarding to see clients all dressed up and looking amazing and I would be really happy if you would let me post them on this website. To see some of the amazing creations on show go to http://www.millinery.info/index2.htm and have a look at "What's New", well worth a half hour with a cup of tea!!! Kind regards and have a happy year till next time, Serena
